About Dr. Eli Cook
Dr. Eli Cook is the Head of the General History Department at the University of Haifa. He was raised in Philadelphia and moved to Israel at age 12 with his family. His military service was in the elite intelligence unit, 8200. His undergraduate studies were completed at Tel Aviv University, and he has a PhD from Harvard University. Cook is a sought-after commentator who makes frequent guest appearances on Israeli TV and radio for his expertise on American politics and economy. As a historian of American capitalism, Cook’s first book, The Pricing of Progress: Economic Indicators and the Capitalization of American Life, earned international awards in the field of intellectual history. In 2025 his next book, exploring the rise of “choice architects” and digital capitalism, will be published.
