What's so Funny About Ballet?

Hosted by

Join our Affinities Pride group for a night at the ballet! We're heading to the Detroit Opera House to see Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, the world’s foremost all-male comic ballet company. This internationally beloved troupe of male dancers perform a brilliant combination of skillful pointe work and hilarious parodying of classical ballet favorites such as Swan Lake and The Dying Swan while making serious statements about gender identity and equality. The Trocks will be accompanied by live music from the Detroit Opera Orchestra.

We'll meet at 6:30 PM at our own private entrance at the Opera House for a pre-glow get-together in their Black Box Theatre with drinks and light nosh, and a personal welcome from Jon Teeuwissen, Detroit Opera’s Artistic Advisor for Dance. We’ll then be escorted to our seat before the show starts at 7:30 PM.

$60 per person includes pre-glow reception and floor level seat to the show.

In addition, any participant who makes a $36 or more pledge or donation to Federation's 2025 Annual Campaign will receive a ticket to attend the Post-Performance 50th Anniversary Reception immediately following the ballet. Enjoy a champagne toast, cake, and pastries with the cast and directors in the Allesee Lounge on the Box Level of the theatre.

Please register in advance by November 20.

Thank you to our Affinities Pride Chairs: Brian Kutinsky (he/him) and Kerri Lanoue (she/her)
