What is Sharing Shabbat?
Sharing Shabbat is a 6 month program for families with children ages 0-8. Your family will participate in monthly shabbat experiences as you build relationships with families and learn how to celebrate shabbat in your home. Sharing Shabbat welcomes all families including those who are new to town, interfaith, multi-faith, single parent families, Jews of Color, Queer families, families with disabilities, and families looking to make new connections in the community.
All families will participate in the following:
*An Opening Shabbat Dinner and Art Workshop
*A Challah Bake
*A Chanukah Party
*A Closing Havdalah Celebration
*Four home hosted shabbat meals (can be Friday night dinner or Saturday brunch/lunch): families will be placed in small cohorts that will gather together in each other’s homes to celebrate shabbat. Hosts will be provided with a $75 stipend to help cover the cost of the meal as well as a Sharing Shabbat host kit. If you are uncomfortable hosting in your home but would still like to participate in the program, we welcome your application and will work together to accommodate your family!
