Read and discuss popular fiction with Jewish content or by contemporary Jewish authors. This series of books features three award winning male novelists tackling stories from an Israeli terrorist hunter turned art restorer to an American student uncovering centuries-old history from Old Cairo to conversos in King Ferdinand’s court during the Spanish Inquisition.

July: The Kill Artist by Daniel Silva, returning to where it all started in this debut thriller of the Gabriel Allon epic, as Detroit prepares to welcome the author on July 16 for the release of his latest novel in the series.

August: Leaving Eastern Parkway by Matthew Daub, this fast-paced coming of age novel about teen Zev Altshul entering a world in which he is unprepared to live, depicts the joys and failings of insular religious culture through a character dealing with trauma and dramatic change.

September: By Fire, By Water by Mitchell James Kaplan, this dramatic story examines the crisis of faith at the heart of the Spanish Inquisition-the irresolvable conflict that rages within the conversos torn between the religion they left behind and the conversion meant to ensure their safety.
