Join us at the Cummings Centre to watch entertaining and enriching award-winning foreign-language films, chosen by Shelly Isaacs. Founder of Café Cinematheque International, Shelly is South Florida’s most knowledgeable expert on foreign-language cinema. Following each film, Shelly will join us virtually for a post film discussion. 


May 8 – Once in a Lifetime - 2014 – France -105 minutes


Based on a true story. At an inner-city high school in a diversely populated suburb of Paris, a dedicated teacher manages to get her toughest class involved in a collective project, where they will take part in a national High school Competition around the history of the Holocaust. While many of them know little if anything about it, their lives will be changed forever.


May 22 – English Vinglish 2012 – India – 120 minutes


The story of a quiet, sweet-tempered housewife who endures small slights from her well-educated husband and daughter because of her inability to speak and understand English. While visiting her sister in Manhattan she undergoes a series of events and forms new-found friendships that will transform her in the eyes of her family and the world.
