The Untold Wounds of Women in War | Lev Fellows

Hosted by

College Students

Join us for an enlightening and impactful event that sheds light on the devastating use of sexual violence as a tactic of war, genocide, and systemic oppression. This event aims to raise awareness and foster a deeper understanding of the historical and current realities surrounding this issue.

Light drinks and dinner will be served!

Coordinated by our Lev Fellows, panelists including Dr. Nate Fuks from McGill, Polina Khrystiuk from Club Ukranian de Montreal, and more guests, will delve into the depths of this topic, focusing on the experiences of Jewish communities historically and at present. Through their expertise and personal insights, they will shed light on the specific ways in which sexual violence has been employed against Jewish communities as a tool of persecution and oppression.

Furthermore, our distinguished speakers will discuss the use of sexual violence as a tactic in the context of Ukraine. By examining specific incidents and patterns, they will provide a comprehensive understanding of the impact and consequences of these atrocities in this region.

To provide a comprehensive perspective, we have invited an expert in the field to discuss the psychology behind the use of sexual violence as a tactic of war. This insightful analysis will shed light on the motivations, strategies, and long-term effects of such actions, enabling us to better comprehend the complexity of this issue.

Dr. Nate Fuks is the Director of The Virginia I. Douglas Centre for Clinical Psychology and Assistant Professor (Clinical) at McGill University. He specializes in researching the mental health of LGBTQ+ individuals, immigrants, and refugees.

Lev Fellows is a program aimed at encouraging young leaders in university and CEGEP to enhance their Jewish communities on campus. Supported by Federation CJA and Hillel Montreal, Lev Fellows initiates programs, events, and activities on campus to actively engage the local community. This event, too, is planned by one of our talented Lev Fellows.
