A screening and conversation with Tamar Kay, 2023-2024 Frankel Institute Fellow.

Join Screenwriter/Director TAMAR KAY for the first episode of her acclaimed TV series, Unchained

(Matir Agunot), followed by a talk-back and Q&A.

Unchained tells the fascinating story of Yossef Mourad, a devout rabbi-detective, whose job is to free the women whose husbands deny them a divorce and thus a new life but finds that in his own home lurks a secret that threatens his marriage—if not his whole world.

Presented by SAJE (Seminars for Adult Jewish Enrichment) and the Jean and Samuel Frankel Center for Judaic Studies, University of Michigan. Co-sponsored by the Lenore Marwil Detroit Jewish Film Festival.

SAJE is endowed by a generous gift from Cis Maisel and supported by Carol & Ronald P. Fogel, Sheri & David Jaffa, and Elaine & Michael Serling through The J’s Pillars of Light Program.
