This Barbie is celebrating Jewish American heritage with a night out for dinner and a movie!
Young adult Barbie girls (and Kens!) are invited to join us in your sparkliest, most fabulous outfits for Shabbat dinner, a little Jewish learning, and a screening of the brand new Barbie movie on its opening weekend! We'll meet at Bamboo Royal Oak for Shabbat dinner, which will also include a screening of The Tribe, an 18 minute-long short film that explores the origins of Barbie (including her Jewish founder Ruth Handler), her connections to the Jewish community, and the impact she's made on society and Jewish culture today. Afterwards, we'll walk 2 blocks over to Emagine Royal Oak to enjoy the 7:30pm screening together!
Due to the generosity of donors, subsidized tickets are available for $16 per person. Your ticket includes Shabbat dinner and drinks and admission to the movie. Theater concessions will be available to purchase separately.
UPDATE: Dinner & Movie Combo tickets are now SOLD OUT! New tickets for $10 have been added, which ONLY include our dinner and program at Bamboo, as our block of tickets at the theater is full, and only a few separate tickets remain. If you purchase one of these Dinner Only tickets, you can try to grab one of the remaining movie tickets and join us, or see the Barbie movie at another time separately.
Whether you’re looking for the spiritual, the fabulous, the social, the sociological, or the nostalgic, Shabbat Sh’Barbie has it all. Jump in your pink convertible and join us for the ride!
Special thanks to Bamboo Royal Oak for helping us sponsor this program!
The Well expects all participants to be vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19. For those who are not, we request that you wear a mask while in indoor spaces. Of course, masks are welcome for all regardless of vaccination status.
