Coffee and Conversation - A second cup

Hosted by

Adults

Join us as we welcome Rabbi Adina Lewittes, the founder of Sha’ar Communities, which promotes an innovative, pluralistic approach to building Jewish identity by creating multiple portals into Jewish life and community. Love and Law, Freedom and Obligation: The Puzzle of a Community's Jagged Edges

A community is formed from a web of relationships, some chosen and some not. Some bonds are familiar and deep; others might be fraught and merely a function of shared space and communal infrastructure. To whom do I owe my concern and when? Must I show up for everyone? Who can I expect to show up for me? Is friendship a necessary component of community? What happens when our communal institutions compromise the relationships they're meant to foster?
