Join the Museum of Jewish Montreal in welcoming the renowned choral group Ensemble vocal Arts-Québec for an intimate concert in our new space featuring 19th century choral music by Jewish composer Salamone Rossi (1570-1630).
Exquisite European choral music from the 19th century is framed by two psaum settings by Rossi, who composed and printed a large set of motets for use in synagogues in Hebrew during the 17th century. While his music is modern in his day, through the lens of their choral compositions the 19th century, composers looked back to the longstanding musical tradition of their musical predecessors. As a result, this concert will cross the barriers of time and brings out the fascinating similarities and differences between composers like G.Verdi, P.I. Tchaikovsky, F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Johannes Brahms and others. Led by Juno award-winning chef de chœur Matthias Maute, this concert will be one not to be missed!
Doors at 7:00pm. Show begins at 7:30pm. General admission seating on a first come, first served basis.
