What is drama therapy?
“Drama therapy is an embodied therapeutic practice involving the intentional use of theatre tools and techniques to explore meaning and facilitate insight or make change."
Why might it be useful for me?
Drama therapy can provide a context for participants to explore their thoughts and feelings, tell their stories, set goals, and more. Active and experiential, drama therapy can be a way of exploring how to communicate one's inner experience and problem-solve through movement, play, and improvisation.
Who will be leading the group?
Nada, a drama therapist and staff member here at L'Annexe will be facilitating the program. Nada is in love with all things theatre and has decades of performing experience as well as years of experience working as a therapist within various cultural communities in Canada.
When are the sessions?
The drama therapy group will occur at L'Annexe from 5:30-7pm on Wednesday evenings on April 6, 13, 27, May 4, 11, 18, 25, and June 1. (The group will take a week off during Passover on April 20th.)
May I choose which sessions to attend?
Please note that this program is an 8-session commitment and not a series of stand-alone workshops. It is intended that each participant of the drama therapy group be present at all sessions. (The group will take a week off during Passover on April 20th.)
