Let’s can hunger together. Help us collect 1,000 pounds of kosher soup — in cans, packages, and boxes — for those in need.

23 months into the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of Detroit area Jewish families requiring food assistance is still near the highest it’s ever been — but you can help.

In the spirit of Tikkun Olam, we’ve organized a soup drive to help Yad Ezra meet their increased demand.

It’s easy to give what you can.

Just bring your donations to the Jewish Federation building in Bloomfield Hills. There’s a drop off box in the lobby and you can come by anytime during normal business hours.

Drop off times:

January 3rd – 31st

Monday – Thursday, 8 am – 5 pm

Friday, 8 am – 3 pm

Kosher soup brands:

Yad Ezra accepts Kosher soups with OU or OK hechsher on the label.

Brand names include but aren’t limited to:

• Amy’s

• Croyden House

• Goodman’s

• Imagine

• Liptons

• Manischewitz

• Osem

• Pacific

• some Kroger brand soups

• some Trader Joe’s brand soups

Where to buy:

You can purchase kosher soup brands here:

• Grove (formerly One Stop)

• Johnny Pomodoros

• Kroger

• Meijer

• Nino Salvaggio

• Plum Market

• Target

• Trader Joes

The choice of flavors is up to you, so mix and match! Kosher Beet Borscht is also appreciated by the Russian families who make up 65% of Yad Ezra recipients.

Warm someone’s heart this winter. Your help is essential to keeping Jewish families in our Detroit Jewish community safe and healthy and alleviating the terrible stress of not having enough food at home.
