Have you ever wanted to learn how to play mahjong, but there’s no one around you to play with or learn from? Now is your chance to learn to play the iconic Chinese game that has an unlikely and generations-long bond within Jewish communities.

On Thursday, August 17, we are excited to host our first-ever mahjong night for players of all levels! Learn from our talented teachers, mingle amidst other players, and try your hand at this legendary game.

Mahjong is played in teams of four, so bring your family and friends! All are welcome to learn, play, and observe. A kids' area will be available with colouring pages for the little ones to enjoy.

Please note that there will be a limited number of mahjong sets available, so bring your own set if you have one. Games will be set on a first-come, first-served basis, and we will ensure as many people have time to play as possible. Throughout the evening, teachers will be around to help beginners how to play. We encourage intermediate players to mix with beginners – this is all about helping each other out and having fun!

To add to the atmosphere, music will be playing throughout the game floor, and our bar (paid by card only) will be open to serve non-alcoholic and alcoholic refreshments.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, plus taxes.

This event is presented in proud partnership with mychinatownmtl, a community page devoted to raising awareness of issues concerning Montreal's Chinatown and its community.
