  • Multiple times
  • Jewish Family Service

Destiny Defined is a unique program that helps students determine their aspirations, identify impediments and how to overcome them, and plot a course for a fulfilling career. Program participants are empowered to create goals and forge a unique vision for a purpose-filled future.

The program will be offered retreat-style on Sunday, December 5th & Sunday, December 12th from 9:00 a.m. to roughly 4:00 p.m. in a conference room at Jewish Family Service in West Bloomfield. Covid safety protocols will be observed.

Sessions are a mixture of icebreakers, lessons, group discussions, visualizations/meditations, student presentations, interactive activities, journaling, and guest speakers. We also hope to add a post-program mentoring opportunity this year.

Core elements of the program:

  • Cultivating a Deeper Sense of Gratitude
  • Recognizing the Power of the Human Spirit
  • Reframing Mistakes as Opportunities for Growth
  • Developing Grit
  • Determining Core Values
  • Reducing Daily Stress
  • Managing Time Effectively
  • Examining College and Trade School Options
  • Exploring the Concept of “Purpose”
  • Formulating a Clear Plan to Find a Fulfilling Career

Mark Honeyman is the lead facilitator, creator, and co-founder of the program. He was a teacher in the Bloomfield Hills School District for 35 years.
